URALSIB Capital Joins the Fourth Annual “Derivatives World Russia” Event Held in Moscow on September 22, 2010, Both as a Sponsor and Participant

Franz Hep, URALSIB Capital’s Managing Director, contributed to a panel discussion focusing on the evolution of the derivatives market. He noted that derivatives represent a relatively new segment for Russia and are enjoying rapid growth. Even though the growth of the four BRIC economies is fueled mainly by China and India, Russia and Brazil also have good prospects. Thus, having established themselves in China, foreign investors are now poised to enter the Russian market.

Currently, the Russian equity market is undervalued. Our investment company recommends the use of derivatives as the most efficient tool to reap the benefits of the subsequent gradual development of the Russian market. “We have witnessed Russian investors’ growing interest in options to hedge their market risks. They have started to realize that derivates are an easier way of hedging your bets”, commented Hep.

Hep also noted that URALSIB has paid more attention to foreign institutional investors this year as they are following the Russian equity market more closely now and have accumulated greater experience in using derivatives.
